Have you been seeing selfie videos with the "dubsmash.com" watermark popping up on your Facebook and Instagram feeds lately?

If you're wondering what that's all about, Dubsmash is actually a lip-syncing app that has taken the Internet by storm since its release in November last year

Availble on iOS and Android, the app lets you choose a snippet from a song or an audio recording of a well-known quote from movies, TV shows, viral videos etc. of which you can record a video of yourself performing the audio clip you've chosen. The clip can then be shared via WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram in a text message.

How on Earth did a lip-syncing app become so popular? Well, for one, it's quite simple to use - pick a clip (or upload your own), record your performance, and share it on social media! Plus, you can do anything and be anyone you want!

For example, if you've always dreamed of attempting Mariah Carey's high-pitched whistle, you can totally ace it with Dubsmash...

You make me feel! Soooo~ :)))))). #dubsmash

The app also lets you recreate famous scenes from your favourite movies and TV shows with full creative freedom on your part

Those viral videos you laughed to and loved so much? Dubsmash has audio clips for those too, so all you have to do is make them funnier than the original!

Sure, the premise sounds kinda ridiculous but once you start Dubsmash-ing, the chances of you getting hooked are pretty high. After all, it's all the rage among celebrities like Hugh Jackman, Khloe and Kylie Kardashian, and Chrissy Teigen.

Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon had waaaaaay too much fun lip-syncing to Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus
