Lazada’s "Muminem" Ad Tells You Exactly What Mums Secretly Want For Mother’s Day…
"Muminem" is here to tell the truth.
Mother's Day is almost here, and with it comes the challenging task of buying a gift for the special woman in your life
Should you get her a bouquet of flowers or treat her to a nice dinner? How about jewellery? Clothes?
So many options, too many.
If you haven’t picked out a gift for Mother’s Day yet, you’re definitely not alone. Maybe this new ad by Lazada Singapore can give you some ideas:
Lazada Singapore and ad agency UltraSuperNew recently launched a video ad for Mother's Day.
The video, which was posted on 9 May, has gone viral. At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 200,000 views and 2,000 shares on Facebook.
In the video, a mother was invited to a set of what seemed to be a clichè Mother's Day ad
But those ads are a dime a dozen these days and this video certainly isn't one of them.
After she's done with introducing her son to the audience, the soft-spoken mother turned into her bad@ss, rhyme-spitting, alter-ego - "Muminem"
She doesn't play around and goes straight to the point and speaks for all matriarchs out there who prefer the pure, unsentimental power of retail shopping.
With Singaporean influencers Youtiao666 playing her entourage, she demands her son to buy her "s***" in return for all the chores that she has done for him
Her "s***" includes a designer wallet, massage, and swimsuit.
When it's all said and done, she wants to remind her son that this is not "emotional blackmail" and she still loves him
The ad is a breath of fresh air as compared to the conventional ads we're used to seeing during Mother's Day
"Mums are special. We really wanted to get to the core of how young people could show their appreciation for their mothers, in an engaging way. Lazada’s brand values were a perfect match. Also, big data," said Shivram Gopinath and Sy Chia, creative directors, UltraSuperNew told TheDrum.
