Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh @ Klang
"Seng Huat's BKT soup is packed with herbs but not overpowering, a smooth consistency but non of the herbal taste distinctly stood out; it's a class of its own. Meaty Pork ribs are boiled for hours with soy sauce, spices and medicinal herbs like cinnamon, ginseng, star anise, goji berries, chinese foxglove and dried orange peel besides others."
blogspot.com"The meat was nice and tender which to me, is the most important factor for good Bak Kut Teh. You can have the nicest tasting herbal soup in the world but if the meat is tough, it still fails."

says.comPao Xiang Bak Kut Teh @ Klang
"Pao Xiang on the other hand, situated in Taman Kimberley of Klang, serves a rather unusual Bak Kut Teh with Strings. The meat is first tied with cotton strings prior to being cooked, to expel the excessive fats and oils from the pork, as well as keeping them intact through out the laborious process."
j2kfm.com"I am bowled over by Pao Xiang's version. It was full of flavour, not overly thick or bitter and rich with sweetness from the pork."

says.comMo Sang Kor Bak Kut Teh @ Klang
"The soup was absolutely delicious. Words can’t describe the complex amalgam of flavours resulting from the many, many herbs used in the boiling of the rich and robust soup. You would definitely be hankering for more soup and more rice."
j2kfm.com"Of the lot, we find the chu sau (pork knuckle) outstanding. The gelatinous meat combined with the soup enhances the whole eating experience. Special mention has to be given to the soup here. We loved the herbal pork concoction. It was thick, hearty and flavoursome... "ada oomph" is the term we Malaysians would use to describe this soup."

"The bak kut teh definitely packs a punch, I like the soup, and you know that they’ve cooked everything right when the meat falls off the bones easily, and intestines didn’t need more than a few seconds to chew through. It was overall a rather satisfying experience."
kyspeaks.com"The first pot of steaming soup bak kut teh came with the regular mixture of pork both fat and non fat, intestine, ribs, button mushrooms, lettuce and fu chok(dried tofu skin). The soup was pretty tasty with a sufficient herbal feel to it which was enough to trigger my threshold of a good bowl of bak kut teh herbal soup."

says.comAh Sang Bak Kut Teh @ Sungei Wey
"The soup is a dark-toned, full-bodied flavour rich with the aroma and taste of herbs. The addition of various vegetables and other ingredients may seem like a jarring distraction from the natural flavours of the pork and the soup, but still did not affect the overall experience."
j2kfm.com"Very tasty, with lots of Herbs (当归). Unlike the Singapore version with pepper soup base and pork only, green vegetable, mushroom (金针菇), Dao Pok, different parts of pig intenstines are added to the soup."

says.comHeng Kee Bak Kut Teh @ PJ Old Town
"While this Heng Kee might not have the best tasting broth, their Yau Char Kwai and golden needle mushroom are one notch better. Another thing I like about them is that they separate the mushroom, tofu pok and meat in individual bowls. I welcome this move because I have always had this nagging feeling that the mushrooms and tofu pok would introduce foreign tastes into the soup and ultimately affecting the flavor."
vkeong.com"I can honestly say that the excellent taste and familiar friendly faces at Heng Kee have been maintained for the past >35 years, as long as I could remember since my childhood days. Their "boiled to perfection" herbal soup base is medium bodied, which I personally prefer more to those sometimes overpowering versions in Klang."

says.comYi Xin Ge Bak Kut Teh @ Kelana Jaya
"The soup here is clearer, slightly sweeter with a mild herb taste – and actually a lot milder if compared to the other Bak Kut Teh shops in Klang Valley. The sweet taste is attributed to the fact that they use a lot of yu zhu – 玉竹 (stem of Solomon’s Seal) often used for its natural sweetness in flavoring Chinese herbal soup. A hint of Ginseng taste could be detected as well."
vkeong.com"The broth is clear and the taste of the herbs is not as overpowering as some other places so if you would prefer a soup that is not too strong then this would be a recommendation for you. The meat here is very tender and like at other restaurants, you can always ask them to top up your soup."
