Agong Congratulates 2 Malaysian Cadets Who Were Accepted Into US Military Academies

Mohamad Khairel Adha Mohd Khairee and Nicholas Ong Yong Xen will be joining the US Air Force Academy and the US Naval Academy respectively.

Two Malaysian cadet officers have received commendation from Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah after successfully getting into military academies in the US

As supreme commander of the armed forces, the Agong — in a statement on Facebook yesterday, 3 June — expressed delight and pride over the achievements of Mohamad Khairel Adha Mohd Khairee and Nicholas Ong Yong Xen.

"Al-Sultan Abdullah is proud that the two have been chosen among candidates from around the world who competed to get a place at the academies," the statement read.

"This achievement also proves that we are capable of competing and achieving success at the international level, thus bringing glory to Malaysia."

The Agong hopes that the duo can become a source of inspiration for all Malaysians, especially the youth so that they will work hard and achieve outstanding successes in their respective fields.

On US Embassy KL's Facebook page, it was revealed that Mohamad Khairel will be joining the US Air Force Academy, while Ong will be joining the US Naval Academy

"Each year, thousands of young men and women compete for admission into United States Service Academies globally. This year, two candidates from Malaysia have been selected for an appointment to the US Service Academies," the embassy wrote.

According to the post, their departure to the US will be broadcasted live on its Facebook page at 9am on 9 June.
