An anonymous person, claiming to be an eye witness to a case of an attempted rape at Pavilion Level B2 Parking on 30th October at about 8pm informed the Facebook page of PJ Community Alert via message.

The message was shared by the PJ Community Alert on their Facebook page and it quickly went viral.

The message was posted on 31st October at 8:58pm.

The post received mixed reaction from users. While some claimed that they have verified with the right authorities and it is a rumour, others were concerned and warned their friends

One Facebook user named 'Cookie Zen' commented: "I frequent Pavilion often so I called up their management office to check. They said no such case happened. I further checked with my friend who is a journalist with The Star."

She continued: "He also said that the police did not receive reports on an attempted rape there last night. I hope that the admin here has verified with the appropriate sources. Otherwise, this should just be treated as a piece of rumour."

Cookie Zen's comment was met with strong scrutiny from the PJ Community Alert admin.

On 1st November around 12:19PM, Pavilion KL responded to PJ Community Alert's post through their Facebook page. The comment read:

Hours later, Malaysian Crime Awareness Campaign shared the Pavilion KL's response on their Facebook page, thanking the Pavilion KL FB team for their explanation and confirmation that the case has been handled well.

REPORT ON ATTEMPTED RAPE CASE AT MALL, VERIFIED. We received several messages since yesterday morning regarding a case where witnesses saw an attempted rape case in the upscale shopping haven, Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur.
