The EC says indelible ink was successful during the Kuala Besut by-election

Its chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, noted that while there were some flaws with the indelible ink during the 13th general election, the EC managed to overcome the problem during the Kuala Besut by-election recently.

"The public has to know that the indelible ink and the biometric system are two different things... it is not that easy to switch. We will continue using the indelible ink as the laws have not been amended."

malaysia-today.net

"We hope there won't be any more issues cropping up about the indelible ink, there won't be people trying their hardest to wash away the ink like in GE13."

themalaysianinsider.com

Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim had announced at the Dewan Rakyat on July 17 that the government was ready to consider replacing the indelible ink with the biometric system. "It (the biometric system) is the best solution, we will make sure that it is discussed."

The biometric system, Annuar pointed out, was more feasible as Malaysia already had a comprehensive registration system in place in the form of the identity card.

Ambiga said the EC's story on the ink kept changing and called for an independent investigation into the election body.

The Election Commission (EC) today admitted in the Dewan Rakyat that the indelible ink used in the recent General Election was not what it was made out to be.

themalaysianinsider.com

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim today said an approved food colouring was used to replace the chemical used in the indelible ink purchased for the 13th general election.

fz.com

EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof has previously claimed the indelible ink has a low level of silver nitrate and herbal ingredients were used to substitute the amount of the silver nitrate, thus, making it easily removed.

The cost for the use of indelible ink during the May 5 polls was RM6.9million, covering the costs for designing special ink bottles, the brushes, the boxes as well as the cost for the unique ink mixture, seeing as how it was not available in the market.

utusan.com.my

Mohd.

utusan.com.my

The Election Commission (EC) said police reports on the indelible ink would not be enough to dispute the results of the 13th general election, as the ink was only an additional element to the electoral process.

thestar.com.my

EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar also described the allegation as “grasping at straws”, adding that there had not been a single report to justify the claims.

thestar.com.my

“The EC admits that there were cases in some areas that our workers had some problem with the ink. But as we said so many times, indelible ink was used as an added element to prevent multiple voting,” he said.

Opposition chief Anwar Ibrahim and PKR president Wan Azizah lodged police reports against the Election Commission for "so-called indelible ink" that could be washed off, claiming that this paved the way for mass "cheating" at the May 5 general election.

malaysia-chronicle.com

Anwar made the report at 12.30 pm at the Tropicana police station near here, close to the PKR headquarters, claiming that the ink stain on his finger was easily removed.

abnxcess.com

"We voted at about 9.30am but by 5pm our fingers were clear and there were no more signs of the ink.

"The Election Commission (EC) had guaranteed that the ink will last for five days yet this is not the case," he said at a press conference on Monday.

thestar.com.my

Thousands are swarming police stations nationwide to lodge reports on the alleged failure of the indelible ink used in the recent general election, answering Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) call for help with its campaign to prove cheating during Election 2013, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.

themalaysianinsider.com

“We have thousands of reports so far. We have announced that only those who could satisfy the position, that they did vote and secondly, that the black ink disappeared either on the first or following day,” said Anwar.

Pengerusi SPR, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd.

kosmo.com.my

sinarharian.com.my

bharian.com.my

sinarharian.com.my

bharian.com.my
