A Japanese reporter from Fuji Television Network has taken the limelight away from Thailand’s anti-government rallies and the February 2 election because of his good looks.

With the ongoing anti-government protest in Thailand, you would think it would be some leader of the government or opposition who would be in limelight. But no, Thailand's social media sensation of the moment is Daijiro Enami.

The young and extremely handsome Japanese reporter is in Thailand covering the ongoing political conflict.

But the 28-year old ended up on social media himself, as numbers of locals shared his photo on networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

He went to Thailand to interview anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban. He also reported on the state of elections in the Bung Kum district, where PM Yingluck Shinawatra cast her vote.

On the popular Thai online forum Pantip, many Thai netizens have expressed their admiration for Daijiro and said that he makes the ideal boyfriend and husband

"Take off your bullet proof vest, I'll use my body to protect you," wrote a Pantip.com member using the pseudonym Noo Khon Dee.

Other users wrote that the reporter was "supremely gorgeous" and said they wished someone like him could be their husband or bodyguard.

According to a report in the daily newspaper Thai Rath, Daijiro was born in Kanangawa on 30 September 1985

He was his parent's second child, is 180 centimetres tall and is blood type O. He played baseball in high school and studied public law at Keio University - one of Japan's leading universities.

His hobbies are swimming, bowling and mountaineering and he has made guest appearances on Japanese TV programmes, including Room of Kings and Ninkyo Helper.
