Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has announced that the country's Parliament will be dissolved tomorrow, 7 April

Najib made the announcement at 12.15pm today, 6 April at the Putra Perdana complex in Putrajaya.

It was reported that the commander-in-chief of Barisan Nasional (BN) obtained royal consent from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V earlier for the dissolution to pave way for the 14th General Election (GE14).

The Election Commission (EC) is expected to set up a meeting to decide on the nomination and polling dates for GE14 now that Parliament has been dissolved.

BN will also be launching its manifesto tomorrow evening in a live event at Axiata Arena

Najib will be presenting the coalition's manifesto, which will be broadcasted live on television and also on the following social media channels: Najib's and Barisan Nasional's Facebook/Twitter/YouTube account, and on the 1Malaysia Facebook Page.

According to UMNO executive secretary Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, about 40,000 BN members are expected to attend the event.

Although the venue could only accommodate 9,000 people, Ab Rauf reportedly said that the other attendees could observe the proceedings from the LED screens that are placed outside the stadium.

Najib, who succeeded Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, previously led the ruling coalition in the May 2013 elections, which was his first as Prime Minister since he came to power in 2009.

Despite losing the popular vote and failing to capture a two-thirds majority in Parliament during the 2013 polls, Najib led BN to victory by winning 133 of the 222 seats available.
