A 39-year-old school teacher has been traumatised ever since she received a rape threat from her 9-year-old student on the night of 13 February 2014.

The Standard Three Boy Who Threatened His Teacher Did Not Fully Understand The Meaning Of 'Rape'

The Year Three pupil of a school in Baling who allegedly threatened to rape his teacher did not fully understand the meaning of the word, the Kedah Education Department found out.

Department director Datuk Mansor Lat said officials from the department had interviewed the boy at his school yesterday. He said that based on the investigation, the boy was not a troubled child and had good academic performance.

“The teacher had taught his class when he was in Year Two and he was very fond of her. From his explanation, we found that the boy did not fully understand the meaning of the word which he had texted to the teacher,” Mansor said when contacted yesterday. He said the boy would be given counselling at his school.

Her colleague, who contacted The Star office soon after the incident, said the threat from the young boy sent shock waves throughout the school in Kupang, about 6km from Baling town. “She is traumatised that her pupil had boldly made the threat,” said the colleague, a 29-year-old teacher from Alor Gajah, who now teaches at the Kedah school.
