Nurul Izzah Divorcing Her Husband Of 10 Years? Why?

Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar was granted a divorce from her businessman husband Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Ahmad today, said The Star Online.

The report said Raja Ahmad Shahrir uttered the talak or the pronouncement of divorce at 4.17pm before Shariah High Court judge Mohd Amran Mat Zain.

"The marriage certificate issued before this should be revoked and details on the divorce needs to be registered," he said.

Judge Mohd Amran instructed a joint custody for the two children of the couple, unless one of them remarries. Azmi said that among the agreed terms, Nurul Izzah would not filed for mutaah claim and matrimonial property. He said the court instructed Raja Ahmad Shahrir to give RM1,500 in maintenance fee to the children every month.

Nurul Izzah Anwar has been advised not to throw her marriage away, and was reminded of the obstacles overcome to enable her father's temporary release from prison to attend her wedding.
