There's no other power like a higher power.

Tired of seeing potholes on a particular road in Melaka and the local council's hesitance to get them fixed, a minister decided that it was time to call for divine intervention.

That man of faith is Deputy Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister, Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, who had been pleading with the district council in Tangga Batu, Melaka to repair potholes along the road leading to the city.

His pleas fell on deaf ears, leaving him no other options but to seek help from the heavens

Abu Bakar not only needed divine help, he also required the scorn of social media users to fuel his cause.

He uploaded a couple of photos on Facebook showing him sitting next to a pothole in a praying position.

"At 10.40 in the morning, I prayed that the mayor, district officers or members of parliament will come to see the potholes on Jalan Bukit Berliang that are continuously getting bigger," the caption reads.

"Dear God, please answer my prayers. We have to continuously take care of our environment".

Abu Bakar, who is the MP for Tangga Batu, ended the post by saying he will always care for the residents and they will have a place in his heart.

His prayer came through in the form of over hundreds of shares and the pothole in question was patched up 12 hours after his post went up

Abu Bakar told FMT that if he couldn't fix the pothole, he would be failing his constituency.

Well, you know what to do the next time you see a pothole...
