A Georgetown woman was run over and killed after an argument with a car driver over dumping rubbish.

Hours after celebrating his 56th birthday with his wife at a food court in Leith Street, night market trader Yeoh Beng Kooi saw his wife being killed before his eyes.
“I tried to beg the driver not to accelerate any further and to stop the car but he tried to flee the scene,” Yeoh said.
“I am still in shock. How could this have happened?
“She was just there with me and moments later, she was gone,” said Yeoh, who sobbed uncontrollably when met during the funeral wake outside his apartment in Lebuhraya Thean Teik, Bandar Baru Air Itam.
Yeoh’s son Phing Koon, 21, said he just could not accept that his mother had died over such a petty matter.
“I just can’t believe that someone could actually do something like this over a trivial matter.
“What’s wrong with the world?” said the visibly upset salesman, who lives in Kulim, Kedah.
On 21 November, a 47-year-old woman named Lee Seok Pheng was run over and killed after a heated argument with a 53-year-old car driver over dumping rubbish near her house, The Star reported
The car driver, 53, apparently went into a rage after Lee Seok Pheng, 47, and her husband, 57, accused him of throwing rubbish near their house.

The incident occurred at the parking space of an apartment block in Lebuhraya Thean Teik in Georgetown.

The driver tried to flee the scene but was overpowered by several eyewitnesses at the site. Lee was pronounced dead at 1.17am at the Penang Hospital. George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Farid Alathrash is scheduled to hold a press conference on the matter later in the day.
