A video of a lorry driver assaulting a cashier recently went viral on social media

According to The Star, the incident happened on 30 November, when the suspect's wife was paying for her items at a supermarket in Klang.

North Klang district police chief ACP Nurulhuda Mohd Salleh said that the cashier was rushing to pack the groceries because the supermarket was closing.

The wife told her husband what happened and he then went inside the supermarket to slap the cashier.

"The woman's husband yelled at me. He told me to quit if I'm not sincere or interested in doing my job," the five-month pregnant victim told Kosmo!.

"The man then slapped my left cheek, and the incident was witnessed by other customers," she added.

She also said that the report was made out of concern for her safety if the man decides to hit her again in the future.

The suspect was later arrested at his house on 1 December around 8.30pm

Nurulhuda told The Star that he was given police bail and the investigation will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.

Background checks also found that he held four past records for criminal and drug offences.

Sinar Harian also reported that the case is being investigated under Section 323 and 506 of the Penal Code.
