Mountain Dew's DoTA 2 Tournament Will See Over 300 Teams Battling For A Prize Of RM150,000

In a shift from extreme sports, this year's Dew Challenge from Moutain Dew Malaysia will see the beverage company hosting Malaysia's largest and most lucrative eSport tournament

The Dew Challenge DoTA 2 tournament offers a massive prize pool of RM150,000 divided into two categories: regional and college/university. Qualifiers will be held in major states across Malaysia starting from October.

The Dew Challenge DoTA 2 tournament offers a massive RM150,000 prize pool split into two categories: Regional and a two-stage College/University challenge. An estimated 1,120 participants from 224 teams are scheduled to participate in five regional challenges in Johor, Penang, Kuantan, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, while at least 640 students in 126 teams from 16 colleges and universities nationwide are due to compete in the College category.

Dew Challenge DoTA 2 is set to begin with its qualifying rounds in:

Penang at Dot C.C on October 17-18
Kuantan at WOC Net Cafe on October 31-November 1
Kuala Lumpur at Orange eSports on November 7-8
Johor Bahru at King Surf on November 14-15
Selangor at Invasion on November 21-22.

After the single elimination qualifiers, top teams from the regional and college division will face each other in the national-level group stage for a spot in the finals

The top four or six teams from each region will qualify for the national-level Group stage on December 4, as will the top four teams from the College/University edition. From the 28 finalists in the Group stage, eight teams will battle it out to “own the realm” and a share of the RM150,000 prize pool in the Grand Finale.

Hemalatha Ragavan, Permanis Vice President of Marketing and Business Development said that the Dew Challenge isn't confined to only extreme challenges, as long as it gets the mind working and adrenaline pumping

“Mountain Dew’s definition of extreme challenges does not only mean sweating, climbing and running, but all activities that get your adrenaline pumping and mind working,” said Permanis Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Hemalatha Ragavan. “We’re everywhere youth, passion, action and entertainment are, and our Dew Challenge 2015 promises all that and more for the participants, spectators and gaming fans.”
