If you've dabbled in online shopping before, or better yet- addicted to sites like Groupon, ZALORA, or Foodpanda, you are in for a treat

We found a nifty little website that helps you save by getting money back every time you spend online. It's called ShopBack.

Shopback is an e-commerce site that helps consumers get the best discounts every time they shop online. The site scouts for the best deals and latest discount codes of affiliated online merchants, and offers extra savings in the form of a percentage of your total bill back as cash.

ShopBack has an impressive list of local and international affiliated retailers selling virtually everything from fashion, to food, and even European railway passes. Every retail store offers a cashback percentage.

The best part is that the cashback is valid on top of the existing discounts codes, seasonal sales, and promotions on offer in each affiliated store.

It's easy to use ShopBack- log in to your account, click on the store you are interested in, and you will be redirected to the merchant's website. Shop at the merchant's site, and simply wait for the cashback to be credited into your ShopBack account.

At this point, a little bit of patience is required - The total cashback would take one to two days before it shows up in your ShopBack account

After that, you can cash out your money within 45 days through bank transfer or PayPal

It's a simple business model, ShopBack earns by receiving a commission from every spend at a merchant's site

We got our in-house SAYS online shopaholic to test if ShopBack is legit, and it is. However, the total cashback that we received is only a very small amount.

Eyad Ama spent RM51.84 at FoodPanda with an 8% cashback. The total cashback that was credited in his ShopBack account was RM3.79.

He then spent RM161.80 on lightning cables and watches in Lazada with a 4% cashback. The total cashback received was RM4.68.

This brings the total redeemable cash from shopping alone to RM8.47.

As you can see, the real value of ShopBack comes when you are spending big bucks, or if you shop a lot and allow the cashback to consolidate into a significant amount

If you are a one-off online shopper who spends moderately, a RM50 buy at Groupon with a 4% cashback would get you barely RM2. Hardly a significant amount to go through all the trouble of waiting 45 days and requesting for a cashout.

However, if you are buying a RM4,099 MacBook Pro from the Apple Store with a 1% cashback, that's a RM40.99 discount off your new laptop.

But then again, when times are tough and every single cent counts, ShopBack is the closest thing we have to the answer of our consumer culture's prayers

ShopBack's tagline is "Shop online, earn cashback". They are on a mission to revolutionise the way people can save on online shopping.

We have to admit that it's addictive to see how much you've saved from each purchase... so just be careful not to let it turn you into a shopaholic monster
