Media Prima Labs has just launched MyGameOn, a brand new online portal for Malaysian gamers

The launch was conducted at Level Up KL 2017, an annual event initiated by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in an effort to drive the growth of the gaming industry in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

The platform was developed with the support of two major key partners, MDEC and Garena

Not only did they serve as content providers by recruiting more unseen young developers, they also provided MyGameOn with exclusive access to e-sports such as League of Legends, FIFA and many more.

It will provide game news, reviews, events, interviews, and updates on both local and international gaming content. The portal also serves as a platform to expose and encourage more talented game developers to expand wider.

Meanwhile, Media Prima Labs continues its search for amazing local talents in game development and mobile game ideas through the SEA Game Jam 2017

The main objective of SEA Game Jam 2017 is to allow young talents to come together and create game prototypes. These prototypes may even be developed into fully-fledged mobile games. It's also a great opportunity for developers from all over Southeast Asia to work as a team.

Hosted in collaboration with Huawei, Media Prima Labs seeks to support the mobile game and app industry. Together, they will be working on other cool projects in the future, including a new app store called 'Hi App.'

This year, the annual hackathon's theme was based around two of Media Prima’s successful TV shows: 'Mak Cun' and 'Ejen Ali'

100 talented participants from around Southeast Asia took part in the two-day event. They had 36 hours to work on their game prototype ideas, including game content, design, and features. Then, they pitched those ideas in a bid to win cash prizes and the chance to make their idea a reality.

Here are this year's winners:

  • Grand Prize (RM8,000 cash): Team 16 (Lai Ze Ren, Teo Jia Luen, Rizal Saputra, Kevin Yeoh Lai Chuan)
  • Second Prize (RM5,000 cash): Team 5 (Nikko Soetjoadi, Hafiz Azman, Ng Chen Hon, Khairool Bakhtiar bin Baihaqi, Razanil Farda)
  • Third Prize (RM3,000 cash): Team 18 (Everaldo Sembiring, Mohamed Affian bin Che Mohamed Onn, Nabilah Raihan Zakaria, Arif Budiman)

These top teams also could be selected by Media Prima Labs to receive additional investment funding of up to RM50,0000 to further develop their game idea, and undergo mentoring in various game development areas.
