Police in Klang are attempting to locate a 25-year-old woman who jumped out of a moving e-hailing vehicle, claiming she acted out of fear for her safety

The incident, which has since gone viral after it was captured on a dashcam, took place on the morning of Friday, 1 May.

North Klang district police chief ACP S Vijaya Rao said the case was reported by a 47-year-old local e-hailing driver.

"The driver was transporting two passengers when one of them, a woman seated at the rear right, suddenly opened the door and jumped out while the vehicle was still in motion," he said in a statement, as reported by the New Straits Times.

The vehicle then comes to a stop as the woman is seen gathering her belongings before returning towards the car. A passing motorcyclist also stops to assist at the scene.

Vijaya Rao said the driver immediately stopped the vehicle and found that the woman had sustained minor injuries.

"The passenger claimed she acted out of anxiety and concern for her safety, alleging that the driver had been observing her through the rear-view mirror without a clear reason," he said.

Following the incident, the driver cancelled the trip

The woman was later taken to a nearby clinic for treatment with the help of a motorcyclist.

The driver subsequently lodged a police report as a precautionary measure.

Police are now working to trace the woman to assist in investigations.

"The case is being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code for an act endangering the life or personal safety of others," Vijaya Rao said.
