Students Allegedly Assault Teacher After Haircut Punishment At Perak School

A discipline teacher at a secondary school in Kuala Kangsar is alleged to have been assaulted by a group of students after carrying out a disciplinary action involving a student's hairstyle

The incident, which reportedly took place at around 11.30am yesterday, 10 June, is said to have left the teacher injured after being punched by several students who were allegedly unhappy that their hair had been cut.

However, Perak Education, Higher Education, Youth, and Sports Committee chairperson Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah said authorities have yet to verify the incident and are still gathering information from the state education department.

Speaking to reporters in Seri Iskandar today, 11 June, Khairuddin said he was awaiting a detailed report before making any official statement on the matter.

"I have not received confirmed information and am still waiting for a report from the state education department regarding the incident," he was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times.

"Further checks are being carried out to determine the authenticity of the case before any official statement is issued."

Khairuddin stressed that any act of violence against educators would be unacceptable if the allegations are proven true

"If the incident did occur, it is an unacceptable act as teachers are educators who guide and nurture our children," he said.

He added that the state government would leave the matter to the relevant authorities and allow a thorough investigation to be carried out before drawing conclusions.

The alleged assault has sparked concern as schools continue to grapple with questions surrounding student discipline, respect for educators, and the limits of disciplinary enforcement within school grounds.

Authorities have yet to release further details on the students involved or whether a police report has been lodged.
