A 28-year-old man from Fort Worth, Texas, has been sentenced to 45 years in prison following his conviction for armed theft and the systematic looting of retail outlets
Authorities revealed that Winston Love orchestrated a multi-state retail crime spree throughout 2025, specifically targeting valuable consumer goods. Among his primary targets were more than 200 LEGO sets, collectively valued at over USD30,000 (RM132,000).
The Watauga Police Department confirmed in an 11 June social media post that a jury convicted Love of organised retail theft with a deadly weapon, according to CBS News.
The sentence, handed down just days after his 4 June conviction, underscores a massive legislative shift in how US authorities penalise commercial shoplifting syndicates.
Love's illicit operations eventually came to a halt in October 2025, when police apprehended him after he fled a Target retail store in Watauga, a suburb situated north of Fort Worth, having stolen USD1,200 (RM5,280) worth of toy sets. The arrest itself required tactical intervention following a brief standoff at his residential property.

Local police verified that the convict committed at least 23 distinct thefts across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex; his targets spanned multiple cities, including Lewisville, Frisco, Mansfield, and Arlington.
However, collectible plastic bricks were not the only commodities driving his criminal enterprise; Love systematically cleared retail shelves of high-demand household electronics, packing his getaway vehicles with PlayStation controllers, premium coffee makers, and vacuum cleaners.
