Streaming on Netflix from 7 September onwards, this season of 'Iron Fist' takes things up a notch, with impressive fight choreography and new major characters like Steel Serpent and Typhoid Mary.

But before you read on, *mild spoilers from here on forth*. Be warned.

'Iron Fist: Season 2' explores the development of characters like Colleen Wing, the sword-wielding female protagonist

Colleen Wing, played by Jessica Henwick, has been featured across shows like 'The Defenders' and 'Luke Cage: Season 2'. And her character has grown from a lone martial arts instructor to a fighter who can hold her own ground alongside heroes and vigilantes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Picking up where ‘The Defenders’ left off, this season also showcases interesting crossovers

Luke Cage, Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Jessica Jones, and Danny Rand (Iron Fist)

To recap, Danny Rand was introduced as the Iron Fist in season 1, and was left chasing after The Hand, the organisation responsible for destroying his sacred homeland K’un-Lun. In ‘The Defenders’, he teamed up with Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones as they thwarted the plans of The Hand and took down high-ranking villains.

In the final battle, Daredevil looked to have perished, but was later seen recovering in the care of nuns. But with Daredevil out of commission, Hell’s Kitchen was left without a protector—a role Danny Rand now attempts to fill in ‘Iron Fist: Season 2”.

This second season of 'Iron Fist’ is packs a punch, or two. And here’s what fans can expect:

1. Epic fight scenes, thanks to ‘Black Panther’ fight coordinator Clayton Barber

This season of ‘Iron Fist’ features many amazing fight sequences, choreographed to detail by Clayton Barber, who also worked on films like ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Creed’. With his help, fans can expect to see a whole new level of martial arts display, which was what the series was meant to be from the start.

2. Iron Fist finally has a costume, well sort of

Comic book fans disappointed with the wardrobe selection for season 1 finally have reason to rejoice. ‘Iron Fist: Season 2’ will feature a few variations of the comic book outfit. But beyond the costume makeover, fans can look forward to a transformed Danny Rand, as he takes on new responsibilities and comes to terms with the ghosts of his past.

3. Colleen Wing is back, and she's even more kickass

Colleen Wing was one of the main reasons that kept us watching 'Iron Fist'. And we can expect to see many more awesome fight scenes where Colleen beats up the bad guys. But beyond that, her story arc is also an interesting one, as she becomes a mentor and also fights alongside her partner of destiny.

4. That's right, Misty Knight from ‘Luke Cage’ is joining the party with a bionic arm

Having bonded with Colleen Wing and receiving a bionic arm from Rand Industries in ‘Luke Cage: Season 2’, Misty Knight appears in ‘Iron Fist: Season 2’ to help with the fight. This could also pave the way for a ‘Daughters of the Dragon’ series with the classic duo of Misty and Colleen.

5. The rise of Steel Serpent, with a glowing red hand

This season showcases Davos gaining powers similar to the Iron Fist, though where he gets his powers we'll leave for you to find out. He poses a major threat to Danny Rand, and there are plenty of encounters between them throughout the season to keep fans entertained.

6. A blast from the past and an official showdown between Danny Rand and Davos

‘Iron Fist: Season 1’ ended with Danny Rand and Davos on bad terms, and this season shows these rivals duking it out in an all-out battle. This fight scene has them both donning the classic yellow mask, and it's something worth looking forward to.

7. A new, powerful female villain called Typhoid Mary

Besides facing off with Steel Serpent, Danny Rand will also have to deal with Typhoid Mary, originally a villain of Daredevil. In the comic books, she has powers like telekinesis and pyrokinesis, which means she can move things around and set things on fire. But you'll have to tune in to ‘Iron Fist: Season 2’ to find out which of those powers were brought over as well.

'Iron Fist: Season 2' is full of action-packed episodes, and it'll be interesting to see your favourite characters further develop over the course of this season
