1. Taylor Swift's theatrical opening performance of her latest single, 'Blank Space', where Taylor really embraced her inner crazy ex-girlfriend persona as she did in the music video
She started things off with an homage to the video, where she sat at a lush dinner table with her lover. Things quickly go sour, roses get lit on fire, and Taylor brings out a healthy dose of her crazy eyes.
2. Pitbull got his Spanish charm on full-force as he hosts the AMAs for the second time, because according to Mr. Worldwide himself, ratings went up 142% when he spoke three Spanish words last year. Right.
2. Selena Gomez's heartfelt rendition of her emotional breakup anthem, "The Heart Wants What It Wants" had the songstress (and BFF Taylor Swift) on the verge of tears by the end of the performance
5. No one enjoyed the AMAs more than Taylor did. Her energy and dorky moves are so infectious, she had Sam Smith, supermodel Karlie Kloss and even Lorde to join in on the excitement!
6. Looks like upping their hair game worked for One Direction, as the group emerged as one of biggest winners of the night - snagging top award Artist of the Year as well as Favourite Group and Favourite Album in the Pop/Rock category. The boys also performed "Night Changes" at the ceremony.
7. Fully-dressed in gold (yes, even Nicki Minaj), the dynamic trio of pop - Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande - took to the stage with a 'Bang'in' performance
8. We've been hearing so much about Iggy Azalea, you'd think she had won quite a number of awards already, right? We thought so too.
Turns out, the Favourite Rap/Hip Hop Album AMA is the rapper's first ever award, and would go on to win Favourite Artist in the same category, beating out Eminem and Drake.

11. Pop darling Taylor Swift took home the first ever Dick Clark Achievement Award, and even threw some shade at Spotify during her acceptance speech, saying:
"What you did by going out and investing in music and albums is you are saying that you believe in the same thing that I believe in. That music is valuable and music should be consumed in albums and albums should be consumed as art and appreciated."

12. Jennifer Lopez proves she's still got it with a 'Booty'-licious performance alongside Iggy Azalea. Network execs were apparently a little worried that the performance may have gotten too risqué for home audiences, so some may find the performance a little... tame.
