Harith Iskander Is The First Comedian In Southeast Asia To Have A Netflix Comedy Special
The comedy special premieres on 19 January.
Harith Iskander is going global! The Malaysian comedian will soon be gracing screens worldwide as he debuts his first comedy special on Netflix this month.
The one-hour special will feature the Malaysian 'Godfather of Stand-up Comedy' taking the stage with his distinctly local blend of humour, tackling everything from family drama and awkward dating experiences to social and cultural issues that Malaysians can totally relate to.
The special, titled 'I Told You So', marks a couple of firsts for both Harith and Netflix. For one, the comedian is set to make history as the first Southeast Asian comedian to have a stand-up comedy special on Netflix!
The funnyman is no stranger to international recognition, having been declared the 'Funniest Person in the World' by US comedy club chain Laugh Factory in 2016, beating 88 other comedians from 56 countries.
This also marks Netflix first foray into launching original comedy productions from the region, with two more comedians from Singapore and Malaysia set to debut their own comedy specials in the next few weeks
Singaporean comedian Fakkah Fuzz's 'Almost Banned' will premiere on 19 January, while Malaysian stand-up artist will have his 'Everybody Calm Down!' special start streaming on 2 February.
