Actor Richard Griffiths, who starred in the Harry Potter movies and Withnail and I, has died after complications following heart surgery. The stage and screen star, who played Uncle Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter films, was 65. May his soul RIP.

He is very much the head of his family, laying down most of the rules for Harry and doing most of the threatening, as well as spoiling Dudley.
Uncle Vernon and his wife have grudgingly raised Harry from an early age. He and Petunia never informed Harry about the magical world, including how his parents died

Richard Griffiths, OBE (31 July 1947 – 28 March 2013) was an English actor of stage, film and television. He was known for his portrayal of Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter films
Griffiths was born in Thornaby-on-Tees, North Riding of Yorkshire, England. He also appeared in Richard Attenborough's Oscar-winning 1982 film Gandhi portraying the role of a British journalist.
Griffiths appeared as King George II in 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. He appeared in the first episode of Episodes, a show featuring Matt LeBlanc, as Julian Bullard.
