Rodriguez will play Sally's best friend Juliet, the most successful fashion blogger in the country. She is described as a "sexy, flamboyant force of nature" who is secretly delighted when her best friend breaks up with her "boring" husband. Eliza Dushku was reportedly in the running for the part.

Gerwig will play Sally; she is described as "a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life." She feels she has nothing in common with her husband of less than a year and a break-up is inevitable, but she has the support of friends and family as she moves forward.

Gerwig first got noticed with the breakout role in the 2010 feature Greenberg. She has been making noise with her starring role in the feature Frances Ha — which she also co-wrote — earning a Golden Globe nomination. Gerwig also just wrapped The Humbling opposite Al Pacino and is set to star opposite Julianne Moore in "Rebecca Miller’s Maggie’s Plan".
