Following the continued success of the studio's The LEGO Movie, Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures is looking at developing the hit video game Minecraft into a feature film.

Persson has already confirmed that the tweet is no joke. "It's for real. I think every part of that tweet was real, including me wanting to be the one to spill the news about a potential movie," he told Polygon via e-mail.


Beyond The Minecraft Movie, Mojang Hopes To Put Minecraft Out For Xbox One, PlayStation 4, And PlayStation Vita

Pocket Edition for iOS and Android have each sold more than 10 million copies, while more than 1 million copies have been downloaded on the PlayStation 3 since that version's December 2013 release.


Just yesterday, Persson announced on Twitter that the original PC version of Minecraft has reached 100 million users, with 14.3 million of them being paid accounts.

Minecraft, which just passed 100 million registered users, is officially described as "a game about breaking and placing blocks. At first, people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, but as the game grew players worked together to create wonderful, imaginative things."


Mincraft has also sold 14 million units sold for PC.
