    • Shortly after the funeral processions today, he posted the following photo of a handwritten letter addressed to the late Jonghyun, accompanied by a bracelet previously given to him as a birthday present from Jonghyun.

    • A post shared by KEY (@bumkeyk) on

  • The English translation of the letter reads as follows:

    • "To Jonghyun hyung whom I love...

Hyung, this is Kibum. I sent you off today and saw your face yesterday, but I still can't believe it. I'm sorry for visiting you so late because of work, and I'm sorry I wasn't a source of strength when you were lonely.

You and I were the two most stubborn members of our group, so we had to do everything we wanted to do. You did everything you wanted, and in the end, you made the decision and left us first... it was really hard at first, but after spending time with only you for the past three days, I think I understand how you felt.

Don't be too worried that you left before us. I'll respect and look after your mom and sister like my own family.

I'll miss you for a very long time. I'm worried because the person who always took my side at meetings is gone now. You and I talked the most during our meetings... I'll have to get used to not having you here now. I'm going to try to live a better life too. When I get older and meet you again, tell me I did well. Jonghyun hyung, you were the best artist, friend, hyung and colleague to me.

You worked hard, and I love you so much!"

  • SM Entertainment, the company that manages SHINee, also posted a tribute message to Jonghyun on their official social media accounts

    • The text accompanying the image roughly translates as follows:

"Jonghyun loved music more than anyone else and loved performing. He is a great artist who loved communicating with his fans through his music. We will remember him forever."

  • Three days ago, Jonghyun was found unconscious in an apartment unit in Cheongdam-dong in southern Seoul at 6pm Korean time

    • The police were responding to a call from the singer's sister, who had alerted them to the fact that her brother may be making a suicide attempt after she received a troubling text from him.

He was found in a state of cardiac arrest and immediately rushed to Konkuk University Hospital but he tragically passed away shortly after. His official cause of death is listed as carbon monoxide poisoning, caused by him burning brown coal briquettes in a frying pan.

  • Earlier today, Jonghyun was finally laid to rest. Key, along with the other SHINee members Onew, Minho and Taemin, were listed as the head mourners.

    • Those near and dear to Jonghyun including family, friends, the other SM family artists, SM Entertainment employees, and fans gathered at Seoul's Asan hospital to bid him a final farewell before he was taken to a private burial ground as per his family's wishes.

  • Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragic loss and hope that Jonghyun rests in peace <3
