Malaysian Film Wins More Awards Than 'Ip Man 3' At Macau International Movie Festival

Malaysian director and writer, Jess Teong made all of us proud by bagging 4 awards at the 7th Macau International Movie Festival with her latest film - 'The Kid From The Big Apple'
Three Production‘s 'The Kid From The Big Apple (我來自紐約)' took home four awards at the 7th Macau International Movie Festival last Sunday. After scoring Best Writing, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Newcomer(s), the film emerged as the biggest winner of the night.

Jess Teong obtained that Best Writing award while child star Sarah Tan was named Best Newcomer. The film’s Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards meanwhile went to Hong Kong nationals Ti Lung and Jessica Hester Hsuan respectively. The film beat out some serious competition including 'Ip Man 3' in the Best Writing and Best Actor category!

Premiering in theatres nationwide on 10 March, the film was also an official finalist of the 2013 New York Screenplay Contest and the 2014 Hollywood Screenplay Contest! Obviously, Teong couldn't be happier at the success and recognition the film is receiving.
