Bizarre First Drafts Of 9 Blockbuster Movies That Would've Changed EVERYTHING

Yoda wouldn't be called Yoda, and Korean FBI agents would be in Twilight.

1. Twilight could have been a movie about Edward Cullen who fights a SWAT team led by a Korean FBI agent

We're not making this up! It's pretty common that movie studios may change how the movie plays out compared to the books. When Paramount Pictures acquired the rights to the film, they wanted to cater it to young males. They wanted Edward Cullen to be a vampire killer with Bella on his side.

Mark Morgan, the producer of the Twilight movie said "Ironically, I love Paramount, but I do not think they would have hired Catherine, our first director. They would have gone for someone bigger. Boys. More action. I mean, one of their drafts literally had a Korean FBI agent who was hunting and tracking vampires across the coast. There was SWAT in the trees and literally it was like, 'Red leader, red leader 1′ and the vampires were picking them out of the woods. It would have been a different movie."

2. Marty McFly from Back To The Future was supposed to be an alien - that wanted to commit suicide

First and foremost, Marty McFly was supposed to be played by Eric Stolz, not Michael J. Fox. Stolz was later replaced because his acting was not up to standards. But even before the whole movie was in production, the Back To The Future we know could have turned out very different!

The original title given for the movie was Spaceman From Pluto and the beloved DeLorean time machine was a device that was set up in a car wash. Besides that, Marty McFly was chronically depressed who thought the futuristic time machine was a good way to commit suicide.

On top of that, there was pressure from Sidney Sheinberg, then the president of Universal Studios who wanted Marty to be an alien since E.T. a movie about extraterritorial life, did well at the box office. Eventually the writers did get the script nailed down and we got to enjoy the Back To The Future saga that we all know today.

3. In the original script for Star Wars, Luke Skywalker was named Annikin Starkiller, and he punched his sister Leia!

In a script room far far away, George Lucas was busy penning down the rough draft script for what would be known as The Star Wars. However the rough draft and end product were very different. For starters, Luke Skywalker was known as Annikin Starkiller. Luke Skywalker on the other hand is a general of the Rebellion. Annikin punches Leia (which is not really nice), Yoda is known as Minch and Emperor Palpatine is known as Cos Dashit.

Thankfully Lucas rewrote the script, and created one of the greatest saga ever made.

4. In World War Z, Gerry Lane (played by Brad Pitt) was supposed to lead an army to battle zombies in Russia at the end

In the zombie flick which starred Brad Pitt, U.N employee Gerry Lane (Pitt) was tasked to lead an army to battle zombies in what would be a climatic finale set in Russia. However, Paramount executives weren't too impressed with the ending so it was rewritten that Lane found a way to cloak humans from the zombie horde.

5. Wall-E was supposed to be a movie about robots fighting alien blobs - who once were humans

In an interview with the New Yorker magazine, Andrew Stanton, the lead writer for films like Finding Nemo and Toy Story explained that in the second part of Wall-E, the beloved robot was roped in to fight an intergalactic battle with alien lifeforms known as 'Gels'. The plot twist was to reveal that they were once humans but after living so long with zero gravity, they have evolved to to look like jelly. Pixar even consulted NASA to discuss how humans will evolve in a weightless environment, proving that this might be scientifically possible.

P.S. In the original script, the 'Gels' even speak in a language taken from the IKEA catalogue.

6. In Terminator 2, it all ended happily ever after for the Connor family. But this would mean no more sequels...

In the Terminator 2 that we know, Sarah and John Connor console themselves after the Terminator sacrifices himself. But in an alternate ending that can be seen in the video above, Sarah Connor is now a grandmother and her son is now a senator as they live happily ever after. However, producers didn't like the ending as it didn't leave much room for sequels. Hence, that ending was "terminated" (pun intended).

7. Remember the iconic horror flick The Shining? An unedited ending suggested that the hotel manager was behind the whole paranormal activity at the Overlook hotel.

Jack Nicholson played one of the most iconic characters in cinema history. According to director Stanley Kubrick, there was an additional 2 minutes scene at the end of the movie. In his original cut, right after viewers caught a glimpse of Jack Torrance's frozen corpse popping from the snow, it was revealed that his wife Wendy and son Danny were admitted to a nearby hospital.

The Overlook Hotel's returning manager later visits them at the hospital, and informs Wendy that investigators "didn’t find the slightest evidence of anything at all out of the ordinary," suggesting that Wendy was perhaps hallucinating and it was all just a dream.

Later on, he gives Danny the mysterious yellow ball that appeared earlier in the film, which actress Shelley Duvall (Wendy) took to mean that the hotel manager was behind the Overlook's paranormal activities. We think this might have made the movie scarier...

8. The 'Darkseekers' in I Am Legend just wanted to save one of their own from virologist Robert Neville (Will Smith)

In I Am Legend, Robert Neville (Will Smith) sacrifices himself to save his friends but not before giving them the antidote that would cure the epidemic. However in this alternate ending, the Darkseekers demonstrated thought and compassion and that they were only attacking Neville in order to save one of their own from his scientific experiments.

Neville apologises to the Darkseekers; the alpha male accepts his apology, and the Darkseekers leave. Shocked by the ordeal, Neville sits down for a moment in his laboratory. Looking over the pictures of his numerous test subjects, the implications of his research methods begin to dawn on him, he was the true monster all along — an infamous "legend" to the Darkseekers.

9. Cooper, the pilot in Interstellar was not supposed to survive in the black hole

In the final film, Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) travels through the black hole Gargantua, surviving the trip and ending up in a “tesseract” space where he’s able to see and interact with his past. This enables him to converse with her daughter Murph through a Morse code message, which sets the film’s final events into motion. Jonathan Nolan, the film's co-writer revealed that in an earlier take on the ending, Cooper dies off inside the black hole.

This meant that Cooper would have no way of communicating or returning home but his sacrifice would not be in vain as the data would have made it out before the collapse. This also means that there will be no the scenes of Cooper’s return trip, rediscovering his daughter, and stealing a ship to search for Anne Hathaway’s Amelia Brand would not have happened.

Kudos to these directors who started with a blank canvas and had the guts to do something new!

Food for thought: If your life were a blank canvas right now, and you could do ANYTHING you wanted, would you have the courage to start something great, to draw up something completely new?
