She is the daughter of Vietnamese refugees who came to Australia in 1981. In Vietnam, her father was a university lecturer in literature; her mother was a lawyer. A new life in Australia cost them professional status — her dad became a school teacher in the NSW public system, her mum worked in the post office — and she has credited them with giving her a take on the world reserved for those who view society from the outside.

Tran's mother and father, both refugees who left Vietnam for Australia in 1981, previously practised law and literary lecturing, respectively. After they resettled in Sydney, however, Tran's mother found employment in the postal service, while her father became a public school teacher. Tran credits her parents for making the success she's enjoyed possible, once writing that they both "endured so much to give my sister and I great lives." Tran was raised in Western Sydney, where she studied at the Meriden School in Strathfield. After high school, she pursued teaching for two years before switching to, and later completing a degree in, Digital Media at the University of New South Wales.

Her interesting take on life gives viewers the opportunity to laugh at social issues and everyday occurrences such as how touching strangers is awkward. That video has around 2 million views to date.

In this video, she bemused viewers on how people nowadays don't say goodbye on their phone, and that's just rude!

You know how girls will always compliment their friends and in return get a compliment back? She sums it up nicely in this hilarious video here

Her most watched video of all time raked in 32 million views. The topic? How to get fake abs. (Speaks a lot about our society eh?) Natalie's sarcasm is spot on.

In one of her recent videos, she discussed how humans have this gift, the gift to fit anybody's name in the "Happy Birthday" song no matter how long the name is. Think about it, we can fit "Balakrishnan Gurmit Singh" in that line if we want to. Definitely useful.

Her witty observations were so good that Lonely Planet, a travel site collaborated with her to produce video content. In this video, she taught travellers how to cook food in their hotel room with just basic items. Who knew an iron can be used to cook bacon and eggs?

So if you love quirky, fun-filled humour you definitely should subscribe to Natalie here. She's so good, "even your mom rates her". (Natalie, if you're reading this, hi!)
