YouTuber Of The Week: Tree Potatoes And How They're Sprouting Outwards For 2015
In this week's YouTuber Of The Week, we highlight Tree Potatoes, the first ever Singaporean YouTubers to be featured on SAYS! Get to know them a little better here.
Yes you're right! Originally from the Wah!Banana channel, Tree Potatoes was formed in December 2013 by the initial trio of Aaron Khoo, Elliot Tan and Janice Chiang. They were later joined by Clifford Yow and Zhen Jie Ho.
Founded in December of 2013, Tree Potatoes is the brainchild of the ex-cast and crew of Singapore’s top YouTube channel. The initial three founders; Aaron Khoo, Elliot Tan and Janice Chiang; went on to meet Clifford Yow and Zhen Jie Ho to form the full team. The channel focuses on bringing western humour with a local flavour to audiences in Singapore and Malaysia through weekly video releases every Tuesday.

Djehuty, said that the trio quit because they “wanted to start a channel that we can call our own”. He shared that it “was an extremely painful decision to leave” but he did not want to pour his life and passion into something he didn’t own.
mothership.sgTheir first video, "12 Types of People at the Gym" came out of the blocks blazing, *hitting 25,000 views and 6,000 subscribers on the FIRST day of posting. This video is now cutting it close to 1 million views.
Their first video under Tree Potatoes — “12 types of people at the gym” — have attracted 25,000 views in one day, with nearly 6,000 viewers subscribing to the channel.
mothership.sgThey never looked back after that. Their next video highlighted the funny differences before and after marriage and it currently has 1.6 million views.
They have also been collaborating with international YouTubers. From Wong Fu Productions...

Within a year, the team grew to be one of the most subscribed Singaporean channels, with close to 270,000 subscribers. Thanks to their quick rise, they were invited to the YouTube Fan Fest in Singapore where they got to rub shoulders with other major YouTubers.
Although known for their listicle styled videos, Tree Potatoes are not afraid to try new things and plan to experiment more in 2015. "The Chase" uploaded on October 2014 was the first step to trying out something new:
