Anwar's Ride In China Is So Badass
Best retro-looking car ever!
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is currently on a four-day visit to China... and his ride there is so badass!
According to Sin Chew Daily, Hongqi L5 is Anwar's official vehicle during his visit.
He was expected to meet President Xi Jinping at 4.30pm today, 31 March, and his vehicle was parked outside China World Hotel in Beijing, reported China Press.
The five-metre vehicle is China's most luxurious sedan, often described as the country's Rolls-Royce equivalent.
The vehicle is a special car for Chinese leaders and state guests, which is equipped with bulletproof windows.
Hongqi, which translates to 'red flag', is a Chinese luxury car marque owned by FAW Group, China's first domestically produced car company
Forbes reported in 2016 that the L5 series costs USD760,000 (about RM3.35 million).
The vehicle's retro-looking design pays homage to the former state limousine, Hongqi CA770.
The L5 series has a 6.0-litre V12 engine with 408 horsepower.
In August 2008 and April 2019, then prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also seen travelling in China in the vehicle.
