Deputy Speaker Thought Fahmi Fadzil Said "Striptease" Instead Of "Swifties" In Parliament
Heh. Striptease.
Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour seems to be a hot topic these days, with even our Dewan Rakyat discussing it.
But who would have thought that "Swifties", fans of Taylor Swift, would find themselves in the middle of a parliamentary debate?
During a Parliament sitting yesterday, 13 March, Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor's innocent question had everyone scratching their heads as "Swifties" unexpectedly found themselves in the political spotlight.
It all began innocently enough, with MPs raising the topic of Taylor Swift and questioning why Malaysia had not hosted the singer's highly successful The Eras Tour.
But as the debate unfolded, things quickly took a hilarious turn when Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil was wrapping up his speech.
Fahmi declared that he wasn't a "Swiftie"
Instead, he identified as a "SitiZoner", the term used by fans of Malaysian singer Datuk Siti Nurhaliza to refer to themselves.
Amidst all that, you can hear the Deputy Speaker chuckle awkwardly, interrupting Fahmi for clarification
"YB, striptease?" Ramli asked, visibly confused.
"No, Swifties," Fahmi quickly clarified.
Understandably. Ramli seemed incredibly relieved by Fahmi's clarification.
It's safe to say that the Deputy Speaker probably had a 'blank space' in his mind during that exchange.
He just needed to 'shake it off' after that misunderstanding.
