The iPhone 6 Billboards Are So Irresistible Someone Just Had To Troll Them
“Our thought was that people don't always take pretty pictures on their phones, so we thought it would be funny to show the other, non-beautiful, photos people take,” one of the campaign’s creators told Refinery29.
If you live in the Klang Valley, we're guessing you would've noticed these billboards by Apple. Breathtaking shots, they sure are hard to miss. They also sort of make you want to own an iPhone 6. We found this billboard in Bangsar:
They're not just in Malaysia, they're all over the world. However, some have found these ads to be pretentious. Two San Franciscans decided to poke fun at it by plastering real world iPhone 6 photos alongside the ads in an expectation vs reality manner.
Apple’s latest iPhone ad campaign is simple: A stunning image — often a landscape — accompanied by the text, "Shot on iPhone 6" along with the photographer’s name and a link to Apple’s website. The photos are meant to be inspirational, and to show off the impressive capabilities of the iPhone 6’s camera, as Apple claims, "You can take the photo and let iPhone 6 do the rest."
In San Fransisco, two advertisers decided to take it into their own hands on Apple's claim and build a counter-campaign on Tumblr called: "Also Shot on iPhone 6." The pictures selected were a true, raw reflection of today's generation at its best, in the form of selfies. These pictures were found using Google Images. Both hilarious and weird, they juxtapose each other in an ugly-pretty way. The posters were plastered side-by-side on San Fransisco streets and BART stations.
