No food hunt in Melaka is complete without a trip to the famous back alley off Jalan Bunga Raya for some fresh cockles, clams, sotong, and other varieties of fresh seafood
Commonly known as longkang siham (cockles by the drain), dining at Tong Bee Stall is an experience you won't get anywhere else as you feast on fresh seafood while sitting in a dimly-lit alley
It may not be the cleanest of places to eat at, but the stall is always packed with locals and tourists who can't get enough of the fresh cockles, clams, balitong, and huge prawns paired with their special nutty chilli sauce
The fresh seafood, all of which are boiled before serving, only costs RM4.00 per plate
In addition, the stall also serves tauhu bakar (grilled bean curd), grilled cuttlefish, sotong kangkung, and fishball rojak so there's something for everyone!
So make sure you pay Tong Bee a visit the next time you're in Melaka:
Address: Back alley next to Madam King’s Shopping Complex, Jalan Bunga Raya, 75100 Melaka.
Opening Hours: 7.30pm to 11.00pm daily. Closed on Tuesdays.
Alternatively, if you'd rather avoid the nighttime crowd at Tong Bee, head over to Hock Chin Lala for a roadside feast of fresh seafood that's not unlike the ones served at the famous stall
