A Practical Guide To Social Distancing So We Can All Do Our Part

Stay home and stay safe!

1. Continue to practise good hygiene habits and keep your environment clean

Wash your hands with soap regularly and maintain good hygiene to avoid falling ill while you're cooped up at home.

Meanwhile, take the time to disinfect germ hotspots in your home, including the kitchen, bathrooms, door knobs, and floors. Keep your home clean and comfortable!

2. Avoid crowded areas and try to stay away from public places

Goes without saying, but always worth emphasising. Now that the national army has been deployed to help the police enforce the Movement Control Order, it's our responsibility to do our part by staying home.

3. If you do need to go out, maintain a distance of at least one metre or more with strangers

There should only be one person going out to run errands, and only when necessary. Use hand sanitiser regularly, wear a mask, and if you have to cough or sneeze, do so into your elbow. Remember to take a shower when you return home.

4. For those with children, leave them at home with your partner if you're running errands

While it can be frustrating for your little ones to be stuck at home, it's for their health and safety. If you must go out, get your partner to distract them so you can sneak out unnoticed ;)

5. Socialise with your friends and family online

You should neither visit friends and relatives, nor invite people over. From video calls to DMs, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy all the socialising you need. You can even host a Google hangout and watch Netflix together.

Be sure to call and text your loved ones to check up on them and stay connected.

6. Do not go to shopping malls, lepak at mamaks or jalan-jalan for fun

There are so many things to keep yourself entertained at home. Stream movies, binge-watch shows, play video games, call friends, nap, clean, cook, do some arts and crafts. For real, #juststayhome guys :)

7. Stay active at home with light exercise

It's easy to slip into a sedentary lifestyle when you're at home all day. While you may not be a fitness buff, it's still important to move around and do some light exercise. There are loads of YouTube tutorials and Instagram fitness sessions you can follow. If you're not into that, at least do some stretches, a few sit-ups, push-ups, and squats!

Ultimately, you should stay home as much as you can. With Grab, you can still enjoy essential services without leaving your house.
