Celcom Just Launched Their MEGA Postpaid Plan And We Tested To See How Fast It Really Is
Guess how long it took us to download a whole Spotify playlist.
Celcom recently introduced a new postpaid plan, Celcom MEGA, which comes with two passes - Unlimited Internet Pass and Lightning Pass
A first-of-its-kind postpaid plan in Malaysia, Celcom MEGA doesn't lock you into a two-year contract, but gives you the flexibility to try out different Internet Passes every month.
Here's how it works:
- You start off with the Celcom MEGA postpaid plan at RM80.
- You can customise your plan by either adding an Unlimited Internet Pass or Lightning Pass.
- At the end of your billing cycle, you can keep your current Pass or switch to a different one.
With the launch of the MEGA Postpaid Plan, Celcom asked us to test the speed for both of their Internet passes
1. We streamed the whole first season of The Big Bang Theory
Yup, we literally watched 17 episodes of The Big Bang Theory in office for "work purposes." Besides an occasional pause in between episodes, we didn't have to wait for any buffering.
2. We uploaded a 100MB video on Facebook in under a minute
Usually, it takes a while to upload videos on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. However, Celcom's unlimited social media data allowed us to post up our content with zero hassle.
3. We watched the NBA All-Star Game highlights on YouTube in HD
Playing YouTube in HD 1080p wasn't a problem either. It makes sooo much difference when you get to watch sports in all of its glorious detail.
4. We managed to update 11 of our apps in just five minutes
After not updating most of our apps for a long time, we just clicked "update all" and left the phone to go to work. The great thing about unlimited Internet is that you won't have to worry about running out, so you could potentially leave all your apps to auto-update.
5. We spent an hour just scrolling through TikTok
The most annoying thing is when things don't load or take forever to show up when you're scrolling through social media. Thankfully, we didn't have to worry about that thanks to Celcom MEGA's unlimited social media.
1. We downloaded the whole This Is Taylor Swift playlist on Spotify in just 63 seconds
Since there were 59 songs in the This Is Taylor Swift playlist, this means we could almost download one Spotify song (typically 4MB) every second!
2. We played PUBG, Mobile Legends, and Clash of Clans without any lag
With Celcom's high-speed Internet, we didn't have to worry about lag when playing online games. For instance, when we were playing PUBG, we recorded an average ping of 60ms, which felt super smooth.
3. We sent 174MB of files via WeTransfer in 25 seconds
That's almost 7Mbps upload speed! :D
4. We downloaded Kingsman: The Secret Service in just 73 seconds
Time to stock up your Netflix account with all the movies and TV shows you need to catch up on!
Ultimately, we were super impressed with the Celcom MEGA postpaid plan. If you're thinking about which Internet Pass you should go for, here's what you should know:
- Unlimited Internet Pass
- Provides unlimited Internet all-month long
- Enjoy sufficient Internet speed for social media, music, and HD video streaming
- Never worry about running out of data - Lightning Pass
- Provides high-speed performance
- Use your Internet quota overseas with Free Roaming (MEGA XL)
- The first in Malaysia, Celcom lets you convert your unused data into e-wallet cashback with Boost
