Application ends on Saturday, 17 July.
Me.reka recently launched a flagship programme called Me.reka Digital Entrepreneur that aims to educate 10,000 individuals across Malaysia in a post COVID-19 job market
Me.reka, the educational arm of Biji-biji Initiative, is an alternative education space that provides innovative programmes that teach and train people skills that are needed in the future job market.
The newly launched programme offers educational classes filled with informative content and career guidance for four weeks.
Participants of the programme will be able to experience simulated work opportunities where they will be exposed to the demands of the digital workforce. This is an opportunity to help them kickstart their careers as freelancers.
The programme was launched with the goal of training those who are fresh graduates and unemployed adults whose lives and careers have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press release to SAYS, Me.reka said the generation of COVID-19 must adapt to unconventional methods in the digital renaissance to find meaningful opportunities, especially when they have limited access to learning experiences.
The next cohort will begin on 31 July and applications are open now until 17 July.
In line with the programme, Me.reka, together with partners, is offering over RM640,000 worth of scholarships to B40 communities who are interested in digital upskilling
The scholarships is collectively offered by Me.reka Digital Entrepreneur, Hong Leong Foundation, and Malaysian Global Innovative & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) Penjana SIM grant.
According to Me.reka programme director Ambika Sangaran, the Digital Entrepreneur programme is the company's most comprehensive digital upskilling and employment programme to date.
"We've curated it to be intensive and transformative, where participants will learn technical and soft skills that are vital in the 21st-century job market," she said.
After completing the four-week programme, participants will be channelled to Microsoft's Global Skills Initiative to build consecutive learning avenues through LinkedIn Learning
Mereka and Biji-biji Initiative group chief executive officer Rashvin Pal Singh said, "The ultimate success of this programme depends on the participant's ability to deliver high-quality digital services, and create a thriving livelihood for themselves through the digital economy."
He added that the team at Me.reka is working to bridge the gap between getting their participants their first gig-project and profiling themselves on freelance platforms available nationally and worldwide.
The team is exploring the types of digital services that can be channelled to programme's students by approaching small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and corporates.
They are also working with recruitment and HR startups, such as People Hired and CORE-munity.
