Here's What RM700 A Month In Rent Can Get You Around Malaysia

Does RM700 a month sound too little or too much to spend on rent? What kind of properties can you rent in Malaysia with a budget of RM700?
Taking inspiration from Buzzfeed’s article of properties one can rent with USD1,000 across the US, we looked up on local rental sites on the kind of properties we can rent with RM700 in Malaysia.
Here some of the properties that are on rent for RM700 in different parts of Malaysia:
Note: The properties are arranged according to their size - from the biggest to the smallest.
1. A spacious, three-year-old bungalow in Kluang
Area: Located about 3.5km from the Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom, the Kluang general hospital and about 6km away from the Kluang town.
The property: An unfurnished house with four bedrooms and three bathrooms in a guarded neighbourhood.
Size: 5,450 square feet
This house could be a good fit for families looking for a spacious yet affordable space to rent, but it may not be the best choice for young working individuals who are looking for a place that's easily accessible and is in the centre of everything.
2. This semi-D house that's located about ten minutes away from Taiping town
Area: The house is just a stone's throw away from grocery stores, schools, the railway station, and eateries. The Perak state museum is only about 10 minutes away from the house.
The property: It is a three-bedroom, three-bathroom semi detached house that comes three air-conditioning units.
Size: 3,887 square feet
While it can be considered cheap for such a large space, note that the property is 15 years old and may not be in mint condition.
3. A five-bedroom house in Butterworth that's 10 minutes away from the Penang bridge
Area: Located close to clinics, eateries, mosques, and convenience stores in a strategic location.
The property: A partially furnished house with three bathrooms and a fully equipped and extended kitchen.
Size: 3,199 square feet.
This house basically offers good value for money - it's both spacious and is located in a prime area.
4. A new, unfurnished single-storey house in Chemor, Perak
Area: Close to convenience stores and fast food outlets and located about six minutes away from Chemor town.
The property: A four-bedroom, three-bathroom house which has enough space to park two cars.
Size: 1,800 square feet
The good thing about this property is that it is a brand new house, but note that while it may have four bedrooms, it might not be the most spacious space at only 1,800 square feet.
5. This newly renovated house that's about 20 minutes away from Ipoh town
Area: Close to wet markets and eateries.
The property: The house comes with a fully-functioning, extended kitchen, and auto gate.
Size: 1,400 square feet
While the house is located away from the hustle and bustle of Ipoh town, it is still at a well-developed, self-sustaining area that has all the necessary basic amenities.
7. This three-bedroom house in Semenyih Parklands
Area: Surrounded by eateries and convenience stores.
The property: An unfurnished house with three bathrooms.
Size: 1,260 square feet
Note that Semenyih Parklands is located about one hour away from the Kuala Lumpur city centre, so it might not be the best choice for individuals who either work in town or make frequent trips there.
8. A 900 square feet house in Cheras
Area: Located in Kampung Cheras Baru, the house is close to mosques, grocery stores, and schools.
The property: It is a partially furnished two-bedroom, one-bathroom house with enough space to park one car in the porch.
Size: 900 square feet
As depicted in the photo above, the space inside the house is quite narrow and may not be in the best condition if you are looking for an urban living space.
9. This new apartment in Sandakan
Area: There's a wet market and supermarket near the apartment.
The property: A partially furnished three bedroom, two-bathroom apartment that's located on the second floor.
Size: 850 square feet
While the house is about 20 minutes away from Sandakan town, it is surrounded by all the necessary amenities like schools and banks.
10. This fully renovated 800 square feet apartment in Penang
Area: The apartment is located close to major malls, grocery stores, and the Penang bridge and airport.
The property: A partially furnished apartment with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a built-in kitchen.
Size: 800 square feet
The apartment would most probably be suitable for people looking to be living close to schools and colleges, with the Fairview International School and INTI College just minutes away from the property.
11. A 750 square feet, three-bedroom apartment in Puchong
Area: Walking distance to mosques and schools.
The property: A partially furnished three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment on the fourth floor of the building.
Size: 750 square feet
The apartment's kitchen area is relatively small and it is located about 50 minutes away from the Kuala Lumpur city centre on non-peak hours.
12. An unfurnished flat that's 20 minutes away from JB city centre
Area: Located close to mosques, schools, and wet markets.
The property: The flat has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Size: 750 square feet
The flat may not be suitable for those working in JB town or Singapore as the traffic during peak hours getting in and out of the Tampoi area can easily take about one to 1.5 hours.
13. This master bedroom that's 10 minutes away from JB Sentral
Area: A residential area that's surrounded by an array of eateries, malls, and banks.
The property: A fully furnished room with all the necessary facilities in the house.
Size: 400 square feet
The room is suitable for individuals working in JB town or Singapore, as it is close to CIQ and Woodlands.
14. A one-bedroom apartment that's near the KK International Airport
Area: Located 10 minutes away from the Kota Kinabalu city centre and important facilities.
The property: A partially furnished apartment with a fully functioning kitchen.
Size: 400 square feet
This small-sized apartment would be perfect for an individual who either travels often or makes frequent trips to the town area.
15. A fully furnished medium room in Bukit Jalil
Area: The room is located at the Z Residence, which is about 30 minutes away from the KL city centre.
The property: The room is fully furnished and the house comes with a fully functioning kitchen.
Size: 300 square feet
While the property is new and the condominium building is equipped with plenty of facilities, the traffic going in and out of Bukit Jalil is notorious for being one of the worst in the Klang Valley area.
16. This 200 square feet medium room in Ara Damansara
Area: Located about 15 minutes away from shopping malls, LRT stations, and other important amenities.
The property: A fully furnished medium room with a fully functioning kitchen.
Size: 200 square feet
The room can be a good option for anyone that doesn't require much space and need daily access to public transportations.
17. A medium room in Bangsar South
Area: The apartment is located in a prime area that's easily accessible with different modes of transport.
The property: The room is fully-furnished and the apartment has all the necessary amenities including a washing machine.
Size: 190 square feet
The room's highlight would be its location. There's a huge new mall, university, and all kinds of eateries close to the apartment and it's only about 10 minutes away from the city centre.
18. This 30-year-old room in the heart of Bukit Bintang
Area: The room is located at the popular, tourist hawker food street at Jalan Alor.
The property: A fully furnished room that's air-conditioned.
Size: 150 square feet
While the location of the room is in what is probably the most convenient spot in town, the area can be noisy and busy at all times due to the watering holes and eateries near it.
