Attention all weekend travellers! KTM Berhad (KTMB) is offering a special train service from KL Sentral to Hat Yai, Thailand for only RM75 one way this Malaysia Day weekend.

In conjunction with the public holiday, KTMB announced on Facebook that the company is renting a train for holiday-goers to travel directly from KL Sentral to Hat Yai on Thursday night, 15 September and return on Sunday afternoon, 18 September.

The direct trip means travellers do not need to alight and change trains at Padang Besar, Perlis, as they usually do, and will be saving on time and train fares.

The train ride from Kuala Lumpur to Hat Yai takes about seven hours one way, and tickets usually range between RM80 and RM115 for a one-way trip.

The one-way ticket promotion for the Malaysia Day weekend is priced at RM75 for a one-way trip in a seated coach

There will also be a promotion for a sleeper train for the long weekend, with tickets priced at RM89 for a top bunk bed and RM97 for a bottom bunk bed.

KTMB has also since added more seats and beds for the promotional trip, and has assured interested travellers that they will introduce the direct service more often in the near future.

You can buy tickets on the KTMB Mobile app or on their official website.

Select 'KL Sentral' as your origin station and 'Hat Yai' as your destination, then choose 15 September as your departure date and 18 September as your return to automatically redeem the deal, either at RM75 for one-way or at RM150 for a round trip.

To travel from Kuala Lumpur to Hat Yai by train, the public will usually have to exchange trains at Padang Besar:
