Having already made USD34 million (RM140 million) in just five days in the US box office, the history-making rom-com Crazy Rich Asians is doing a A+ job of bringing Malaysia and Singapore into the spotlight

Not only did it make history as the first Hollywood movie to feature an all-Asian cast in 25 years, Crazy Rich Asians - which stars Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh - became the highest-opening romantic comedy since 2015 after earning a cumulative USD34 million since it opened in the US on Wednesday, 15 August.

The movie, which centres on an Asian-American woman meeting her boyfriend's extremely wealthy family in Singapore, also stars Fresh Off the Boat's Constance Wu as the female lead and is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Singapore-born Kevin Kwan.

True to its Singaporean roots, the film was shot in various locations across Singapore and Malaysia. In fact, one of the film's pivotal scenes was shot in the iconic Blue Mansion a.k.a. Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion in Penang.
