Emerson Tung is a 29-year-old game concept artist based in the US. A Kuala Lumpur native, he has over 5 years of experience in the gaming and entertainment industry.

Tung has been interested in all things entertainment related since a young age. So much so, he would buy anything that's related to entertainment art.

"I’ve been drawing since I was five years old, and loved everything entertainment art-related, from comics, cartoons to video games, as I was growing up. I can’t exactly pinpoint the time when I fell in love with illustration, but I do remember robots and superheroes from comic books and Saturday morning cartoons sparking my imagination and giving me the inspiration to draw.

I would buy art books, comics, graphic novels, how to draw books and basically anything that had art on it," Tung said in an interview with Robot-Envy.

From working on games like Angry Birds and Warhammer, his portfolio is extensive and impressive, to say the least

He was approached back in 2013 to work on the crossover franchise between Transformers and Angry Birds.

He had a hand in conceptualising the Warhammer 40K RPG Books, a multiple book series set in the Warhammer universe.

Currently, Tung is working at id Software, a video game development company based in Texas. The company is famed for working on the famous first-person game series, DOOM.

When id Software released the first DOOM back in 1993, it set new standards for graphic quality and graphic violence in computer gaming.

"This was an early exploration for the Necropolis, which was described to me as a cavernous ruin with a bottomless pit and precarious walkways, which were inspired by the precarious mountain paths of Tianmen Mountain. I added a giant demon skull as the centerpiece as a throwback to the Icon of Sin and it stuck all the way to the end of production." he said.
