Durian pie (Duffee) @ The Humble Pie, Section 17

A dome of freshly-whipped cream conceals a generous layer of durians drizzled with sticky toffee; the whole thing sits on a base of baked digestive biscuits. Cut through the cream and that unmistakable aroma assails the nostrils and the immediate surrounds.

Sweet and creamy durian is what's in this baby! :) An absolute heaven in a pie (HUGE durian lover here!). Come on guys, its whipped cream, durian, toffee with a crunchy buttery crust, how can that go wrong??

Durian mooncake @ Tai Thong, Petaling Jaya and other departmental stores

Image via

Fans of durian can have an absolute field day here; Tai Thong triumphs by offering not only one, not merely two, but three types of real-durian mooncakes, each of them with distinctive tastes & textures. Thanks to the fine folks at Tai Thong for this sampling.

The Emperor of Tai Thong's king-of-fruits selection: Imperial Musang King Royale, filled with flavour & fragrance. RM88 for two pieces, a premium delicacy. It's a limited-edition mooncake, so call up your nearest Tai Thong outlet to reserve this before heading over; there's a strong possibility that stocks could run out before the Mid-Autumn Festival in September, as Tai Thong claims to rely on only top-flight batches of durians carefully chosen for quality.

Tai Thong is located at 7th Floor, Intan Square, No. 3, Lorong Utara C, 46200 Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

Durian snow ice @ Tong Pak Fu, various outlets

Image via

There's more durian here! Tong Pak Fu's "Durian Snow Ice," made with Tracka durian pulp, is a delicate, melt-in-the-mouth beauty _ more agreeable than expected. Partnered with grass jelly & sago pearls, this truly is a princely portion.

The tracka durian snow ice is also quite special. It uses the "Chuk Kiok" variant of durian, which gives a more aromatic flavour to the snow ice. Compared to the other variant available, the D24 Durian Snow Ice, this one would be more aromatic.

Tong Pak Fu is located at Lot UGK01, Upper Ground Floor Paradigm Mall 1, Jalan SS7/26A Kelana Jaya 47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

Durian mochi @ Durian Lagenda, LOT 10

Image via

The best of the best must be their durian mochi. I tried their durian mochi during Chinese New Year at my friend’s house and I fell in love with it. It is the same with most Japanese mocha but the filling is the durian flesh. It is usually kept in the fridge and best taken when it is cold. You won’t stop having this if you are a durian lover. Malaysians in general are durian lovers and you can spot many durian stalls on the roadside during the durian season.

The must-try signatures at Durian Lagenda include this Durian Mochi, which is chewy and soft with the aromatic hard-to-resist real durian filling inside. I prefer to have it at room temperature so that the texture is creamier.

Durian Lagenda is located at Lot 10 Hutong, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Below iSetan entrance and the Lot 10 outdoor escalator (iSetan entrance)

Durian pancakes @ Lai Po Heen Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

Image via

Wrapped in soft fluffy crepes, durian and fresh cream filling stuffed inside golden packages are divine. Lai Po Heen’s durian pancakes are legendary. They are must-haves for dessert for any durian lover dining in this Chinese restaurant. The pancakes are served chilled and the proportion of fresh cream to durian is well-balanced.

To end the meal on a sweet note, we were served Lai Po Heen's signature dessert, the durian pancake. Fresh D24 durian is mixed with whipped cream and wrapped in a thin crepe, resembling the durian fruit. This was good, and Hubby who is a non-durian lover also found this delicious. Luscious.

Lai Po Heen is located at 1, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, City Center Klang Valley 50088
