Volunteers Gather For Mangrove Planting And Beach Cleaning Session At Pulau Carey
The efforts are part of a broader initiative by redONE Mobile to engage in environmental conservation and promote sustainability.
Pulau Carey in Selangor recently became a hub of eco-friendly action as passionate volunteers gathered for a mangrove planting and beach cleanup session
The initiative aimed to restore and enhance the island's coastal environment and boost biodiversity, while simultaneously raising awareness about the importance of mangrove ecosystems in environmental conservation and climate resilience.
Together, the volunteers carried out various hands-on activities, including planting mangrove saplings and cleaning up a beach.
All this is crucial to not only protect shorelines from erosion, but also enhance water quality and act as significant carbon sinks to combat climate change.
The initiative was organised by redONE Mobile, in partnership with the Mah Meri Cultural Village (MMCV)
This collaboration also honored the cultural heritage of the Mah Meri tribe, one of Malaysia's 19 indigenous groups, who have long played a vital role in preserving the island's coastal landscape.
Volunteers were given the unique opportunity to try their hand at some of the tribe's traditional activities, such as leaf origami, lastik & blowpipe, and atap weaving. They were also treated to a woodcarving demonstration that showcased the tribe's artistry and craftsmanship.
The highlight of the day was a traditional Mah Meri wedding ceremony, offering the volunteers a look into the tribe's distinctive culture.

Earlier this year, the company also carried out their 'Eco Roots Initiative' at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM). As part of this, volunteers were trained in essential techniques like soil preparation and planting to grow high-quality seedlings, helping to restore Malaysia's natural ecosystems.
Speaking about their Pulau Carey collaboration with MMCV, redONE Mobile CEO Ameen Amaendran said it underscores the brand's commitment to creating lasting change by protecting our environment and supporting local communities.
"This programme aligns with our core values of sustainability and giving back to the communities we serve. Together, we aim to leave a positive legacy for future generations," he added.
Echoing his sentiments is MMCV representative Diana Ross Diaman, who commented, "This partnership with redONE Mobile is incredibly meaningful to our community. Mangroves are a symbol of resilience, just like the Mah Meri people.
"This programme allows us to protect our coastal environment while sharing our cultural heritage with the wider community. It's a step forward in preserving both our land and our traditions for future generations."
