Woman Shares How To Make DIY Pepper Spray With 3 Things You'll Find Around The House

A Facebook user's post on how to make an affordable and effective DIY pepper spray has gone viral.

And boy, does it look like it'll do the trick!

Philippines-based Marry Ferjel Babasa's post, which was published on 2 April, has garnered more than 675,000 shares and 12,000 comments at the time of writing.

"Girls!!! Since there are many bad guys out there now, I'll share my lifesaver hack," Marry's caption read.

Describing her DIY pepper spray as "easy, affordable, and hassle free," the woman explained that only three ingredients are required - a spray bottle, several chilli peppers, and water.

After chopping the chillies into small pieces, Marry mixed them with water in the spray bottle

"Shake, shake shake, then you're done!" Marry wrote.

"Get a plastic or piece of paper, spray it on there, then sniff it. You can smell how strong the aroma is," she added.

Not only were Marry's simple tips heavily circulated on Facebook, it was also mostly shared by women

The comments on her post consisted of women tagging their friends and men offering to make the pepper spray for the women in their lives.

"That gave me the idea [of] how us girls really seek for protection," Marry told Coconuts Manila.

She revealed that she has been making the DIY pepper spray since 2016 and replaces the mix with a new batch every six months.

While she has yet to use it on someone, she said that it is better to be safe than sorry.
