This New Teahouse In PJ Serves Colourful Layered Teas That Are Just Too Pretty To Drink

Don't worry about artificial colouring, the colours are made of natural ingredients such as floral petals and fruit juice!

Looks like teahouses à la Chatime and Gong Cha are making a comeback! With several new brands popping up in shopping malls lately, one in particular caught our eye when we recently came across its newly-opened kiosk in Sunway Pyramid.

With its bright yellow counters and signage, it's pretty difficult to miss SunnyCha - a new addition to the bustling shopping mall in PJ. We were especially drawn to the shiny jars of tea leaves and towers of tea behind the counters!

Hailing from Taiwan, SunnyCha made its debut in Malaysia in April last year at Lot 10 Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur, followed by two more outlets in Sunway Pyramid and 1 Utama by the end of 2017.

In the short time since it first stepped foot in Malaysia, the Taiwanese teahouse has already set itself apart from other tea shops with its Sunny Sky series, a lineup of vibrantly colourful layered teas. So pretty!

The coloured layers are apparently made of the teahouse's signature Butterfly Pea Flower Tea as well as natural colours from floral petals and real fruit juice. The range comes in four different flavours:

(i) Elara, signature Sunny Sky with citrus honey;
(ii) Supernova, signature Sunny Sky with Probiotics and citrus;
(iii) Milky Way, signature Sunny Sky with honey milk; and
(iv) Nightsky, signature Sunny Sky with honey

To add finesse to your photos, the SunnyCharistas will even shine a spotlight from the bottom of the bottle to bring out the colours. Pretty extra, but it does make your Instagram feed look a bit more magical!

Apart from the Sunny Sky series, SunnyCha also offers an extensive menu ranging from classic teas to latte variants and fruity infusions such as Oolong Chá Latte, Matcha Soy Latte, and Signature Tie Guan Yin Chá Latte with Pumpkin

SunnyCha prides itself on using all-natural ingredients and flavours with no artificial additives such as colouring, flavouring, and preservatives in their tea; not even syrup or white sugar, as it ruins the natural flavour of tea. Instead, the teahouse only adds brown sugar or fruit juice when necessary to optimise sweetness.

All drinks are available in Small, Regular, Large, or in a Bottle (except for Sunny Sky series, which is available only in bottle form). At the time of writing, the drinks are priced from RM6.80 to RM17.80.

Speaking of tea, an up-and-coming trend that involves adding creamy cheese to the top of beverages such as tea and Milo has also been popping up lately:
