The controversial Croatian food and travel site, TasteAtlas, has crowned roti canai the second best street food in the world

TasteAtlas released the ranking list for 'Best Street Foods In The World" on their official Twitter page, where our beloved local dish can be seen taking second place, out of 50 other international street food dishes.

Roti canai received a ranking of 4.8 out of a five-star ranking system, tying in with China's guotie, a Chinese dumpling dish popularly known as the potsticker, which took first place on the list.

In third place, also with a score of 4.8 stars, is espetos, firewood-grilled skewered fish (typically sardines) from Málaga, Southern Spain.

Seeing a local dish finally getting the appropriate recognition, many Malaysians rang in with their approval of the ranking list

Other Malaysians said that roti canai should have gotten the number one spot, considering how popular it is in the country.

However, some Malaysians felt that other local delicacies should have gotten the spot. Namely, crowd favourites like nasi lemak, Ramly burger, or char kuey teow.

Last week, TasteAtlas raised the eyebrows of Malaysians when they shared a video of "roti canai" being made:
