This New Enchanting Bar In The Heart Of KL Serves Wicked Cocktails With A Twist
Perfect for a chill night out!
Nothing says 'treat yourself' better than sipping on a classy cocktail while relaxing at a posh bar overlooking the city
If you're looking for a place to chill and have a relaxed night out with girlfriends or your partner, this new bar in KL checks all of those boxes.
Enter: Flying Monkeys, a new cocktail bar located on the highest floor of Tribeca, Bukit Bintang
Opened by the founders of Yellow Brick Road and Wizards at Tribeca, this cocktail parlour exudes elegance with its sleek leather sofas, glass chandeliers, and lo-fi beats.
Besides being lush and all, the bar left some room for a little cheekiness with its painted walls portraying winged monkeys ala 'three wise monkeys' style.
Located on the eighth floor, its glass windows overlook the Tun Razak Exchange building and part of KL's city lights.
Inspired by 'The Wizard of Oz', Flying Monkeys weaves the characters into its menu by creating unconventional drinks
Our first was Elphaba's Brew, which was a blend of Tanqueray 10 gin and Malaysian company Niko Neko matcha which gave it its wicked green look.
It was tied together with peach, soda, lemon, and topped with a half peach brûlée.
Served in a goblet was Wizard's Butterbeer – swirled with Laphroaig 10 Year Old whisky, Flat Guinness Stout, brown butterscotch, nutmeg, homemade ginger syrup, and spiced syrup.
It's an acquired taste that's sure to pack a punch! So if you're into spices and strong flavours, you might enjoy this.
If you prefer the classics, the bar also serves its spin on the rum-based cocktail 'Jungle Bird' and whisky sour
Winged Creatures was a refreshing blend of Kraken Black Spiced Rum, Cointreau, Campari, lime, syrup, and topped with a smoked crispy pineapple sliver. A great pick-me-up after a long day!
Sultana Sour combined Monkey Shoulder whisky, pink grapefruit, white grape syrup, egg white, and lemon presented in an old fashioned glass. A classic for the whisky lover.
We got to try some light snacks, including their signature Unagi bao, crispy Morning Glory chips sprinkled with cheese, and churros dipped in hot chocolate sauce
The warm, fluffy homemade baos were stuffed with unagi and a slightly spicy sauce that perfectly complemented our drinks.
However, my personal favourite was its Cheeky Churros, which had just the right amount of crisp and fluffiness. It came with a hot chocolate dip piked with Kraken Black Spiced Rum.
It was a good sharing portion as well (enough to split between the three of us!).
