10 Major Supermarkets And Hypermarkets Nationwide Will Reduce Prices Of 4,000 Selected Products By Up To 70%
“Today, we are launching a Price Reduction Campaign and 10 major companies with 955 outlets nationwide will participate,” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said when launching the campaign at AEON Balakong here yesterday, 29 Jan 2014.

The First Phase Of The Campaign Will Be Participated By Supermarket Chains Econsave, Mydin, KK Mart, Aeon, Aeon Big, Tesco, 99 Speedmart, NSK, Segi Fresh Mart And Giant
Ten supermarkets had been selected to pioneer the 'Price Reduction' campaign which would see price reductions of between 15 to 70 per cent.

Among the daily necessities listed under the 'Price Reduction' campaign are fresh produce, frozen food, dried food, beverages, and baby and children's items.

Image via thesundaily.myCiting an example of the prices of Mandarin oranges, which are staples in Chinese New Year celebrations, Najib said their price this year was higher compared to last year.
"I was informed that this is because of the limited supply due to the unfavorable weather conditions in China at the moment," he added.
Najib Also Said Providing Assistance Like The 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) Also Helped To Lessen The Effects Of Rising Cost Of Living
Najib said providing assistance like the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), which now benefited more than seven million households, book vouchers for students and the early schooling aid also helped to lessen the effects of rising cost of living.
Najib said other measures included the setting up of Kedai Rakyat 1Malayia, Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia and Klinik 1Malaysia, with the cooperation of the private sector, and these offered consumers cheaper goods and services, besides the price monitoring and enforcement carried out by the relevant ministry.
