2-Year-Old Melaka Girl Dies After Choking On A Grape
The toddler was hospitalised and received treatment for ten days before her demise.
A two-year-old girl has lost her life after a 10-day battle in the Melaka Hospital, where she was admitted after she choked on a grape
The toddler, Nur Aryanna Danisha Muhamad Shaizat, was pronounced dead at 9.23am Saturday, 9 September, at the paediatric intensive care unit of Melaka Hospital, according to a Bernama report.
According to Melaka Tengah police chief ACP Christopher Patit, the toddler was transferred to the Melaka Hospital on 31 August after she was initially treated at a private hospital in Ayer Keroh.
While doctors at the private hospital had successfully dislodged the grape from the toddler's airway, her condition deteriorated the same day, necessitating the use of a ventilator to assist her breathing.
The police have classified the case as a sudden death
There were no police reports filed either by the Melaka Hospital regarding the child's demise or by the family of the deceased related to the incident.
As a precaution, parents and guardians are advised to cut fruits, even grapes, before giving them to toddlers and young children
