Man Gets 25 Years In Jail For Prostituting His Wife, Sexually Assaulting Daughter & Niece
"You are a monster," the High Court judge said, while sentencing the man.
A 27-year-old jobless man, whom the prosecution described as a "monster" with "unprecedented" sordid sexual depravity, has been sentenced to 25-and-a-half years' jail for prostituting his wife, sexually assaulting his daughter and molesting his wife's niece
The man was also ordered the maximum 24 strokes of the cane on Tuesday, 19 February, after he pleaded guilty in the High Court of Singapore to prostituting his wife, forcing their six-year-old daughter to perform sexual acts on him and molesting his 13-year-old niece in a hotel room, according to a Channel NewsAsia report.
The accused cannot be named in order to protect the victims' identities.
The man, who is a father of two, was also ordered to pay a fine of SGD12,000 (approx. RM36,000) to disgorge the profits he had earned from prostituting his wife.
Local media cited prosecutors describing the case as the "first case of its kind" and the most aggravated case of human trafficking in Singapore.
The man's offences finally came to light after his mother reported him to the police for sexually assaulting his six-year-old daughter
While pleading guilty earlier this week, he admitted to forcing his daughter to give oral sex on him, as well as undressing, kissing and fondling his 13-year-old niece.
A psychiatric assessment from the Institute of Mental Health stated that the man has antisocial personality traits and poses a risk to his daughter, adding that he was "somewhat boastful of his sexual exploits". The report also stated that he poses a high risk of violence towards his wife, who has a personal protection order against him.
His jail sentence, which was much longer than the 22 years the prosecution had asked for, was backdated to his date of remand: 21 August 2016, TODAY Online reported.
While sentencing the man, the judge said, "You are a monster"
"The sordid sexual depravity of his transgressions is unprecedented and involves him sexually exploiting the three most vulnerable women in his life - whom he had every responsibility to protect," Judge Chan Seng Onn further said.
The man had a long history of physically abusing his wife, even before they got married in 2012. He began beating her in 2009, a year after they started a relationship.
According to reports, the violence increased in severity and frequency and persisted while she was pregnant. From June 2015, he assaulted her at least once a week.
The man hatched a plot to prostitute his wife, saying that prostitution was a quick and lucrative way of earning money. He threatened to kill her if she reported the abuse to the police.
She eventually succumbed, as she feared his assaults and also because she needed to buy milk powder for her three-month-old baby, reported Channel NewsAsia.
The man taught her how to solicit customers through online portals, teaching her to use online monikers like "Single Mum" to advertise her services, and to respond to interested customers with details such as her bust size, according to the Straits Times.
She met her customers in hotels, keeping to a daily quota of customers set by her husband. According to Channel NewsAsia's report, the man made his wife give sexual services to 138 men, and taking the SGD11,000 that she made.
On different occasions, the man first molested his wife's 13-year-old niece in a hotel and then sexually assaulted his own daughter
After the daughter told her grandmother what happened, telling how her father had done "something bad" to her, that the grandmother called the police on her son.
